The Highland distillery expands its core range

The 25-year-old Royal Brackla Pedro Ximénez Cask Finish joins the Highland distillerie's core range of whiskies with sherry cask finish. It therefore will be available constantly as a real highlight next to the Royal Brackla 12 Years Old Oloroso Cask Finish, Royal Brackla 18 Years Old Palo Cortado Cask Finish and Royal Brackla 21 Years Old with finishes in Oloroso, Palo Cortado and Pedro Ximénez casks.

Royal Brackla focuses heavily on sherry casks

Royal Brackla places particular emphasis on the influence of sherry casks. The distillery style lends itself perfectly to sherry finishes, as to Malt Master Stephanie Macleod.

"Our aim is to perfect this art and create the finest sherry cask finished whiskies. We only use the best casks from the bodegas of Jerez in Spain. This whisky, which has spent over two decades in first-fill bourbon casks, was finished in PX sherry casks, giving it rich and sweet fruity syrupy notes with accents of dried fruit and roasted coffee, balanced by a light, spicy acidity. The result is an impressive, sumptuous and luxurious whisky with a wonderfully smooth and velvety mouthfeel."

The Royal Brackla 25 Years Old Pedro Ximénez Cask Finish is bottled in natural colour and without chill-filtration with an alcohol content of 46% ABV.

A distillery fit for royalty

Founded in 1812 in the Highlands in the Cawdor Estate not far from Inverness, the Royal Brackla Distillery was the first Scottish whisky distillery to be Royal Warrant to the Royal Court in 1833. King William IV awarded "The King's Own Whisky" this title, giving therefor the distillery the privilege of using the "Royal" in its name.

Since 1998, the distillery has been part of the Bacardi Group, which manages it through its subsidiary John Dewar & Sons, along with its other labels Aberfeldy, Aultmore, Craigellachie, The Deveron (MacDuff Distillery) and Dewar's.
