A touch of Mexico meets the Scottish blended malt

A new variation of the popular Rock Island Blended Malt Scotch Whisky was released and is currently available in the Whisky.de online shop: Rock Island Tequila Cask Edition.

The independent bottler Douglas Laing has been blending single malts from Arran, Islay, Jura and Orkney since 2015. Until 2019, the whisky was released under the name Rock Oyster, since then as Rock Island to emphasise the focus on island whiskies more clearly. The whisky for this special edition was then finished in former tequila casks and bottled without chill-filtration and in natural colour with an alcohol content of 48% ABV. A total of just 4,200 bottles of the Rock Island Tequila Cask Edition is available globally,

Chloe Wood, Brand Manager of Rock Island, said that Rock Island is a brand they are very proud of at Douglas Laing. It allows them to bring together four of the world's most famous whisky producing islands to create a truly unique blended malt Scotch whisky. They always source the best casks at Douglas Laing, and this Rock Island Tequila Cask Edition is no exception. The combination of Scottish and Mexican elements makes this edition so interesting.

In keeping with the finish, the design of the Rock Island Tequila Cask Edition features elements of Mexican culture.

The current press release describes the flavour of the Rock Island Tequila Cask Edition as showing instant notes of citrus and campfireOn the nose. The palate is incredibly creamy with notes of crisp apples, caramel, vanilla and peat. The finish is lingering with brown sugar and toasted oak.
