W.D. O'Connell

The company

Independent bottler W.D. O'Connell is an Irish company founded in 2019 by Daithí O'Connell. The company is based in County Waterford. It specialises in the bottling and distribution of high-quality whiskeys. The brand was able to establish itself on the Irish whiskey scene within a short space of time. The focus is on the selection of hand-picked casks from various distilleries, which are then bottled under the company's own label. Quality and individuality take centre stage! A central philosophy of the company is transparency: neither the use of colouring agents nor the use of cold filtration are used in order to preserve the original character of the whiskey. Each cask is carefully assessed and bottled at the point in time when the whiskey is considered to be optimally matured.

The range

W.D. O'Connell offers a wide selection of whiskeys from various regions and distilleries in Ireland. Single malt and single grain whiskeys in particular are represented in the range, often with special finishes in bourbon, sherry or port casks. Outstanding features of the brand are the small batches and the strictly limited single cask bottlings, where the whisky is bottled at cask strength.

Series

W.D. O'Connell produces a wide range of series. In addition to a sherry series, in which Irish single malt whiskey is matured exclusively in Oloroso casks, there is the Pedro Ximenez series, in which the maturationtakes place in high-quality Pedro Ximenez casks. The Bourbon & Rye series is characterised by the fact that a single grain whiskey is first matured for 10 or 20 years in ex-bourbon casks and then finished in ex-rye casks. In the Caledonian series , Scottish single malts are bottled and in the Bill Phil Peated series, the whiskey is triple-distilled, significantly peated and matured in first-fill bourbon casks.
