Tullamore D.E.W. 14 Year Old released
The new Irish single malt was finished in four different casks
If William Grant & Sons release a new Tullamore D.E.W. and proudly announces it as “4 Cask Finish” you can assume this whiskey to have passed a skillful cask management. After all it was the family company Grant that started the era of multiple maturing of whisky by developing its Balvenie Doublewood. To that time the legendary David Stewart was Master Blender of the company, today Brian Kinsman follows his footsteps. Together with John Quinn, Global Brand Ambassador of Tullamore D.E.W., he released this knew 14 year old single malt whiskey that had seen a special finish.
Tullamore D.E.W. 14 Year Old is characterized by four woods
After an extensive maturation in ex-bourbon casks the whiskey for this limited release was thoroughly finished. Usually for those old and rare casks Tullamore uses a triple finish for its Tullamore Single Malt Whiskey but this time Brian Kinsman decided to use four different woods. The “4 Cask Finish” of the Tullamore D.E.W. 14 Year Old was done in bourbon, Oloroso sherry, rum and Madeira Casks. The result is an aromatic, complex aroma that presents a combination of citrus and exotic fruit notes with notes of spicy oak. The smooth character of the Tullamore D.E.W. 14 Year Old, bottled with 42.3% ABV, is not least due to the triple distillation Tullamore
Tasting notes for the Tullamore D.E.W. 14 Year Old
Color: golden amber
Nose: strong and vivid with an enormous fruitiness of ripe apples, sweet citrus and a hint of tropical fruits, enveloped in vanilla-oak aromas
Palate: wonderful rich and sweet with notes of fruit and oak together with a slight spiciness.
Overall: long lasting sweet
