New Kingsbarns Bell Rock presented at cask strength

A very limited Lowland Single Malt Whisky made from Oloroso Sherry Butts and Bourbon Barrels.

In the region of Fife on Scotland's east coast, the Wemyss family has been running the Kingsbarns whisky distillery since 2014. With an eye on production from local barley, it produces a light and fruity single malt whisky with long fermentation times and a high cut point during distillation.

The current flagship of the independent distillery is the seven-year-old Kingsbarns Doocot, which is made from 90% bourbon cask and 10% STR cask whisky. But Oloroso sherry casks can also be found in the warehouses, from which, for example, the whisky for the Kingsbarns Balcomie comes.

With a large proportion of sherry casks and at cask strength

These casks also supplied a large part of the whisky for a currently presented limited edition: The new Kingsbarns Bell Rock was created with 70% Oloroso Sherry Butt whisky, the remaining 30% whisky comes from First Fill Bourbon Barrels. In contrast to the Bell Rock introduced two years ago with its 46% ABV, the Bell Rock 2023 offers a cask strength of 61.1% ABV. Bottled at natural colour and without chill filtering, the small batch bottling is limited to 3,600 bottles, initially available in the UK for £75, but soon to be available from EU retailers, according to Wemyss' announcement.
