Three nine-year-old single malts from different sherry casks

With the new editions of the GlenAllachie Wood Collection, whisky icon Billy Walker presents three nine-year-old single malts. The GlenAllachie 9 Year Fino Sherry Cask Finish,The GlenAllachie 9 Year Amontillado Sherry Cask Finish and The GlenAllachie 9 Year Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish have already been added to the GlenAllachie distillery's broad portfolio in the Whisky.de online shop.

One Sherry is not like the other - this realisation is also evident when finishing whisky in former sherry casks. Depending on which type of sherry was previously in the cask, the flavour profile of the whisky that was pre-matured in bourbon casks varies significantly:

  • The GlenAllachie 9 Year Fino Sherry Cask Finish is bursting with flavours of orchard fruits, roasted almonds and vanilla, as the latest press release reports.
  • The maturation in Amontillado sherry casks gives the whisky a hint of dark cherries, roasted hazelnuts and butterscotch.
  • Oloroso sherry casks, on the other hand, not only ensure a significantly darker colour of the whisky matured in them, but also allow strong layers of coffee beans, sultanas, ginger and marzipan to emerge.

All three new editions of the GlenAllachie Wood Collection were not chill-filtered and bottled in natural colour with an alcohol content of 48% ABV.
