Comment: This was also on my bucket list and I could recognize this whisky from hundred's of any kind of single malts. With the nosing there is a very very intense peat smoke and maybe a little maritime notes in the back like iodione, salt but this is only after second or third nosing.
The taste is not as peaty as the nose and what I expected. The iodine and the seaweed is the dominant maybe with some saltiness as well.
The finish is rather peaty again but the iodine and salt is still there.
It is really a whisky which you hate or love. I rather loved it and recommend it!

Nosing: Peat, sweet/salt smell of the beach, band-aids (plastic kind, not the cloth ones) seeweed, kelp and well made collard greens. sweetness is there, but nothing particular that I can identify. This smells like medicine.
Taste: Bam, the smoke hits you first, with the seaweed and iodine a close second, no fruit or chocolate taste in this one, just smoke, salt, a little sweetness, it tastes to me almost identical to the way it smells. Not super complex, not overpowering, but significantly original. This is truly a like it or don't dram, and I like it. I like it a lot.
Finish: Nice long finish that drags on with the same smokey, medicinal, iodine taste. Not chemically, like many cheaper malts, but with the honest nature of the whisky. This is nice.
Comment:This dram was my introduction to peat, and I still love it. With that disclaimer, I like this as a simple islay, there are no multitude of hidden flavors, like Lagavulin, Ardbeg, or Port Charlotte.... This is a simple dram that is pleasant and predictable. This is my daily dram, unless of course I wish to taste something for review prior.
