Nosing: Floral Apple
Very light, floral, a little apple, a sort of sweet pastry/biscuit note.

Taste: Sweet Caramel Vanilla Spices
Sweet arrival, vanilla caramel, some light sweet spices

Finish: Spices Sweet
Medium length, some residual spiciness which fades away quite quickly. Retains a lot of the earlier sweetness.

Comment:
This is one of those whiskys which I think will benefit a great deal from another 5 years in the barrlel. The nose is light and takes a while to really open up in the glass, not really my thing. On the palate its sweet, very sweet, it doesn't have the acidity or tannins it really needs to balance it, its not something that a higher abv will solve either, as that would just amplify the sort of syrupy quality it has. The finish is fine, if a little basic. This is possibly what I would consider a good beginners whisky because of the sweetness (and the very reasonable price), but it's not what I go looking for in a malt. It's a pass for me, but I can see the merit in it.
