Believe it or not, Campbeltown has more to offer than Springbank. Glen Scotia has always been a bit under the radar, but it has a lot to offer as a distillery! The 15-year-old expression has an intriguing nose, featuring salted caramel, pastries and apricots. Porridge, honey and floral scent add to the complexity. Spicy, aromatic and increasingly cask-dominated, the palate is balanced out by subtle sweetness, bitter walnuts and a touch of arugula. Lemon balm, nutmeg and salt linger in the resinous finish. Almost like Clynelish 14, a singular malt with character.

Nosing:
Very fruity. Mandarins and baked apple. Noticable oak coming through.
Taste:
Sweet arrival, vanilla caramel, rich spiciness. Turns dry towards the end
Finish:
Medium to long, drying and remains spicy, with some pepperiness developing.
Comment:
This was a new one for me, and I have to say I was impressed. It is very well rounded and there's a lot to like. The nose is really powerful, and the taste very refined. It definitely benefits from a little water being added. It is a little more expensive than most standard releases, but the value is there. Definitely worth trying.

Nosing:
strange, strong, glue and skin
Taste:
Dry fruits, raisins, apples, ginger, salted caramel, something like a skin and lacquer, bitter oak. All is very intensive, bitter - dry - tart profile.
Finish:
very long, dry, slightly spicy. It stayes with varnish kind of thing and is very pleasant.
Comment: This is probably the most intense, and not smoky, dram of whisky I had. Taste hits the palete imidiately with intense flavores. And it ony develops with its complexity. Nose howevere is not so pleasant. And finish is the best. For price it is definitely a must have for those who like dry - bitter profile but with lots of other things going on with skin, nice spiciness and also deep fruity sweetness.
