Balvenie 17 Years Double Wood
Like its younger brother, this 17-year-old Balvenie was matured in two different kinds of casks. First it was matured in American oak barrels and then in European ex-sherry casks. David Steward has created a truly complex and aromatic whisky.

Taste: Starts off a little thin, candied dark fruits (sugar plum candies???), gentle spiciness
Finish: milk chocolate...medium length. not too bitter
Comment: while somewhat thin, it has a very great flavor and is an "easy sipping scotch". This is the perfect "safe" whisky, and I mean that in the most positive way. It's complex, but doesn't have anything that takes you by surprise either. It's approachable for the newcomer, while still being enjoyable by most connoisseurs. Regardless, I personally think that it is somewhat overpriced, but if you don't have any issues with the $$$'s this is a must for any balvenie fan.
