Comment:
Fresh fruit, apple and mixed tropical. Sweet sherry, cinnamon rolls, vanilla and other spices. As you let it sit in the glass the fruitiness dies back and a dark toffee note comes up.
Taste:
Intense sweet arrival. Less of the intense fresh fruit from the nose and more dried fruits - apricot. Sherry, vanilla oakiness. Powerful flavours throughout.
Finish:
Finishes somewhat dryer, and long. Lingering fruitiness and oak.
Comment:
I picked this up as part of a tasting set and it was well worth the try. The nose in particular is outstanding, you can see the relation to the younger Glenfiddich releases but this is a different beast entirely. Unfortunately it comes with a price tag to match, though I can see why people would be willing to pay the extra. Really decent stuff.
